About RTM

Refinery Technology Meet

Centre for High Technology (CHT), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG), Government of India, organizes Refining Technology Meet (RTM) every year in association with various Oil Companies in India. The meet has become much sought after annual event, which provides an excellent opportunity for exposition of recent advances and technological developments which are of direct relevance to the downstream hydrocarbon sector.

The aim of the RTM is to bring together participants from public & private sector refineries, policy makers, consultants, catalyst manufacturers and technology providers from India and abroad and provide a platform for sharing, interacting and exchange of technical ideas among refinery operators, technology providers, researchers, etc.

RTM also provides an excellent platform for networking and business exposure with Oil Companies, Process Licensors, Design & Engineering Companies, R&D/Academic institutes etc.

The first RTM was held 30 years ago and so far 21 RTMs have been organised in association with Indian oil companies on various themes relevant to oil industry.
The last RTM, i.e., 21st RTM organised by CHT in association with HPCL during 20-22 April, 2017 at Visakhapatnam was a grand success with participation of around 800 delegates/invitees from India and abroad. The Theme of the Meet was “Refining to Petrochemicals – The Way Ahead”. The Meet was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), Petroleum & Natural Gas in the presence of Secretary, P&NG; Joint Secretary (R), MoP&NG; CMD, HPCL and Heads/Senior Executives from oil industry. A total of 74 oral papers spread over 16 Technical Sessions and 82 posters were presented during the 3 day Meet. 12 Exhibition Stalls were put up by leading technology/service providers showcasing their services. Apart from Indian oil companies, leading global consultants/technology providers like Shell, UOP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Haldor Topsoe, Axens, KBR, DuPont, Solomon, Lyondell Basell, Grace, Univation, Mitsui Chemicals etc. participated in the Meet.
RTM is a flagship event of CHT and is highly appreciated in the downstream hydrocarbon sector for its technical content, knowledge dissemination and organisational aspects.

The Downstream Hydrocarbon Sector is currently passing through a challenging phase with increased influence of alternative sources of energy and growing demand for petrochemicals. In order to reflect and incorporate the growing importance and integration of Petrochemicals with refining industry in India, the Meet has been rechristened as “Refining & Petrochemicals Technology Meet (RPTM)”. The 22nd Meet is planned from 13-15 January, 2018 at Bhubaneshwar in the state of Odisha, India on Pan-Asia basis and the theme would be “Emerging Trends in Downstream Hydrocarbon Sector”.
